Each vest offered by Texas Cool Vest suits different needs. Different body sizes, weight and different levels of heat mitigation are all important factors to consider when picking your vest.

We use several types of fabric in constructing the various types of vests:

Supplex – a lightweight material that has a softer feel and lighter weight but lower absorbance.
Polycotton Twill – this is our most common material found on most standard vests. This material is more durable, more absorbant and less prone to receiving accidental damage such as what could occur at a construction site or attic.
Banox – a Fire Resistant material rated (FR3). These vests are the blue in color.

The Cool Vest Light

Our Light Cooling Vest provides the most snug fit with less excess material and reduced weight. The Light Vest is able to use standard cool packs (full duration) as well as light cool packs (less thickness but less duration). This vest is perfect for:

People with slim builds including children
Need to wear the cooling vest underneath another garment for fashion or a bullet proof vest for Police

This vest uses the heavy cool packs needed for adequate cooling for people with more blood supply. The expandable vest has longer straps to provide the appropriate fit for big people.

We recommend the Expandable Cool Vest for larger people with increased body mass or increased cooling requirements (higher temperatures and duration).

The Heavy Cool Vest

For extreme heat environments, where enhanced heat protection is required, we recommend the Heavy Duty cooling vests. This system uses larger phase change cooling packs that provide enhanced cooling required by your increased cooling needs. This vest is available in the Banox flame resistant material as well as our standard heavy duty material.

Our vests meet and exceed OSHA safety standards and cooling vests are recommended by the CDC for reducing heat illness in the workforce.

For team use we recommend our standard cool vest made from polycotton twill with 4″ adjustment band. This is THE vest for team, crew or shift use where each member shares a pool of vests.

A note from a customer regarding a small team using a pool of cool vests:

Three vest and four sets of coolpacks keep my three man road construction crew cool all day. The packs are changed by each worker in a rotation every 20-30 minutes. The spare set is kept in a cooler or ice water while the other three are being used. Swap out your pack after a couple hours and you are good to go. Since the packs will completely recharge in 20 minutes, the next worker can get a fresh recharged set in just a few minutes. This rotation system keeps everyone working., all day without heat stress.
